Once Latvia is out of the way Infront and local promoters will still have to work hard to get good news from the local governments and even the Monster Energy Motocross of Nations is a question mark when it comes to how many will be allowed.īeing a glass half full guy, rather than a glass half empty guy, I will say the second half of the MXGP championship will give us better news than the first half (where rounds were cancelled or postponed), and while we might see some double headers, like in Turkey in early September, I have a positive vibe that everything will work out okay. The number of people in this area will be limited. Only people with a valid negative Covid-19 laboratory test will be allowed in Zone D. An unlimited number of people will be admitted in this area. Visitors will be allowed in Zone C upon presentation of a valid digital Covid-19 certificate attesting to a full course of vaccination or Covid-19 illness in the past 180 days. Taking into account the Covid-19 restrictions set for Latvia for organizing public events, the territory of the “Zelta Zirgs” circuit will be divided into two spectator zones - C and D. One of my favourite rounds as the circuit is build alongside a forest and enjoying nature and motocross is what is it all about, throw in good weather and it is nearly as good as sitting on a terrace in summer with a beer. Loket and Lommel also brought good crowd attendance and again, while limitations were asked, the authorities made sure both events were able to go ahead and be a success, not just with the racing, but also the spectator numbers and the vibe at the circuit.Īnd now we head to Latvia, where I can imagine a big crowd will attend and hopefully, that beautiful Kegums circuit will enjoy some sunshine.

A Grand Prix with crowds sure has felt good in 2021. The Dutch government rules changed just days before the GP, in what should have been maximum attendance, with standing allowed, but the organizers and again the local council and police force came together to make sure some common sense was reached and we saw a really nice attendance, with spectators lining the track-side fencing and many happy faces. While Maggiora was a little stricter with the numbers, the GP in Oss saw big numbers as spectators were allows in as long as they had been tested for Covid and the organizers supplied a chair to sit on. In England the local council worked well with event promoter Steve Dixon to make sure that we could had maximum attendance, and while it was mentioned we could have four thousand, it was one of the best spectator attendances for Matterley Basin and the British GP and everyone left Great Britain happy. The last month or so has the sport back on its feet and while there are still question marks about Grand Prix’s and possible cancellations or postponements in the future, it has been good to see big crowds in most of the rounds so far.
